PRESSURE SENSOR | RESEARCH

Pressure sensor:

A small sensor unit including the analog amplifier should be positioned at the wheel of a racing car to monitor the tire pressure. There arises peak temperatures up to 300°C during the race because of the closeness to the brakes. The maximum operating time during the race is 180 min. The total operating time in a season is max. 500 h. For space and weight reasons extensive cooling measures are not possible. Find, compare and evaluate analog components (amplifiers) and semiconductor technologies that ensure safe a operation!

General Recommendations:
  • written report (approx. 8pages, English)
  • the text should be factual and brief (no personal narrations and embellishments)
  • statements should always be substantiated or justified
  • lists and tables are clearer than long texts
  • images or diagrams are supporting the vividness

Evaluation Criteria
    • independence of work
    • quality of the literature research (not the number counts, but Wikipedia quotations are not enough)
    • discussion / comparison of different possibilities
    • plausibility of the proposed solution
    • explanation of the relationships between different parts of the system
(see structure: components / joining technology / thermal management)
Possible Structure:
  1. Analyses of the Problem
Description of task
What is the main problem?
Subdivision of Problem in (e.g.):
  • components
  • joining technology
  • thermal management
  1. State of the Art
literature review about one of the listed topics (name all references [number in your reference list]) available solutions on the market or in development (components, materials, technologies, design …) evaluation of the technical maturity cost rating if possible
  1. Solution
explanation and evaluation of your own solution discussion of different possibilities comparison with state of the art remaining problems / open questions.
